About me
I grew up in the beautiful Odenwald, but for my studies, I moved next door to Heidelberg where I have been for the last decade. Currently I am doing my PhD at the Astronomisches Rechen-Institut in the research group of Kathryn Kreckel. As part of PHANGS – a worldwide collaboration that has built up an impressive collection of astronomical observations – I study the different components of the ionized gas in nearby galaxies. That goes from start – H II regions powered by newly formed massive stars – to finish – the last light up of smaller stars in the form of Planetary Nebulae.
As I do a lot of data science in my job, I also like to apply this knowledge to everyday topics – ranging from analyzing my movie diary to mapping historic data. I am also a big fan of typography and as such love to create nice looking documents with LaTeX. Other projects like this website are more driven by the curiosity to try something new. Although I have to say that I have just taken a liking to it: for me it serves as a nice memory of my completed projects.
